S -- Specific
M -- Meaningful
A -- Appropriate
R -- Relevant
T -- Thoughtful

10 steps for good business writing:

  1. Remember your ABC (Accurate, Brief, Clear)
  2. Be courteous and considerate
  3. Use appropriate tone
  4. Write naturally and sincerely
  5. Remember the KISS principle (Keep it Short and Simple)
  6. Use modern terminology
  7. Include essential details
  8. Be consistent
  9. Use active not passive voice
  10. Compose CLEAR communications (Clear, Logical, Empathetic, Accurate, Right)
