Spring Festival is very important for Chinese.
Legend says. Hundred years ago, an ugly animal, named NIAN(年), would go out for its food, and hurt the people every Spring Festival Eve. People post up couplet on all the doors for avoiding to be hurted.
The animal named NIAN does not seem to exist. And Spring Festival has evoluted to a custom.
